How to Make a Strawberry Galette

Welcome to my inaugural blog recipe! After sharing my culinary adventures on TikTok and Instagram, I’ve decided to bring my creations to the blogosphere. To kick things off, I’m thrilled to introduce a simple yet scrumptious treat: the strawberry galette.

If you’re unfamiliar, a galette is a rustic French pastry characterized by its flat, freeform shape. Whether savory or sweet, galettes offer a versatile canvas for creativity. For this recipe, I’m leaning into the sweetness with ripe, juicy strawberries.

Let’s dive into the recipe:

Quick & Easy Strawberry Galette Recipe

Ingredients:
•4 cups fresh strawberries, washed and halved
•3-4 tablespoons of honey
•1/4 cup brown sugar (you can also use cane sugar)
•1.5 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
•Two sheets frozen Pepperidge Farm puff pastry (thawed)
•2 tablespoons of corn starch
•1 egg (for egg wash)
•1-2 teaspoons of cane sugar
•Optional: 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to strawberry filling
•Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions:
•Preheat oven to 400 degrees
•On a lightly floured surface, roll out and connect the thawed puff pastry sheets. The pastry sheets should equal minimum size 15×13.
•Place the dough on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
•Mix the strawberries, cornstarch, vanilla extract, honey, and brown sugar until thoroughly combined. If including the lemon juice, you may mix it in now.
•Place the strawberry filling evenly into the center of the pastry dough

•Leave a 2-3 inch parameter of dough around the strawberries in order to fold over and create a crust.
•Fold the pastry edges over the berry mixture and then brush with the egg wash.
•Sprinkle with sugar (optional)
•Bake for 25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
•Remove from the oven and rest for 10 minutes. Feel free to dust with powdered sugar and pair with whipped cream or ice cream.

Enjoy!!!
