Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T

Episode 1: This and Never Opening Instagram Again.

Literally re-programming my brain to slow down. Less social media, less mindless scrolling, and more intentional activities. Here’s what I’ve been up to this week.

Reading- Long Island by Colm Tóibín. Set in 1976, our main character Eilis Lacey, is harshly confronted with information that her husband is having an affair. Colm Tóibín does a heart wrenching, yet beautiful job showcasing Eilis’ turmoil as she realizes her marriage is over and it’s now time for her to choose herself.

Eating- A sunny Sunday in Los Angeles always brings me to The Beaudry, located in The Conrad Hotel. Although the Conrad Hotel has been open for quite some time, it seems as if it’s been overlooked by the trendy DTLA crowd (it was pretty empty this past Sunday afternoon). I enjoyed the views of Walt Disney Hall and The Broad from the patio while indulging in my favorite girl dinner: Caesar salad, French Fries, and a glass of Whispering Angel Rosé.

Playing- El Madrileño by C. Tangana. El Madrileño. 10/10. No notes. No skips. The album is about five years old and is a masterpiece. El Madrileño will forever be on repeat for me.

Obsession- Swedish candy from Kändi Studio City. A smaller candy selection than what I’m used to seeing in a candy store, Kändi offers an exceptional mix of sweet, sour, and chocolatey candy to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Recommending- A kick ass pilates workout via Pilates By Izzy. There’s only 95 days until summer…. Ample time to get beach body ready. Izzy’s 25 Day Pilates challenge will jumpstart your fitness regime and keep your body sore (and wanting more) in a good way.

Treat(ing Myself)- To a trip to Ulta for manicure supplies. Getting my nails done is my least favorite “maintenance” thing to do. I find the nail salon to be overstimulating for me (the noise, patrons talking/facetiming on their cell phones, and sometimes the smell of the acetone). I enjoy doing my nails in the peace of my own home, plus I save money.

Thank you for reading my weekly report. Stay tuned for next week’s episode!
Lots of Love, Brittany
